Mumbai: Mumbai Police’s encounter specialist IPS officer Himanshu Roy has reportedly committed suicide, leaving Mumbai police personnel and people in a state of shock. According to available information, on Friday, the officer shot himself with his service revolver. At around 1.40 pm he shot himself at his official residence this afternoon.
Sources said that former ATS chief Himanshu Roy was depressed due to the prolonged illness. He was reportedly suffering from cancer. He had been unable to attend his office since 2016.
IPS officer Himanshu Roy was from 1988 batch. He played an important role in the arrest of Bindu Dara Singh in the spot fixing case in 2013, the encounter of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar’s driver Arif , Vijay Palande-Layla Khan Double Murder Case.
