IPS Kumar Rajesh Chandra took over as the Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal today here in New Delhi. Officer from 1985 of Bihar cadre of Indian Police Service , Sh. Chandra succeeded Surjeet Singh Deswal, IPS of 1984 batch of Haryana Cadre. Prior to this Sh. Chandra was Director General of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. Shri Deswal will be new Director General of Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP).
A post-graduate in Economics from Jawahar Lal Nehru University, Kumar Rajesh Chandra has served in various important districts and other senior positions . He also served as the SSP in Patna ,the capital city of Bihar.
As Superintendent of Police Sh. Kumar Rajesh Chandra has served in several important districts as Aurangabad, Siwan, Gopalganj,Begusarai, Muzaffarpur, Bokaro, Chatra and Dhanbad . As Range Deputy Inspector General Kumar Rajesh Chandra has given his services in Eastern Range, Bhagalpur. He has also worked as ADC to Governor of Bihar, Inspector General of Police (Operations) and later he also served as Additional Director General (Intelligence), Bihar.
As Deputy Inspector General and Inspector General Kumar Rajesh Chandra has served in the Special Protection Group (SPG) on Central deputation and on his second Central deputation, he held the charge as Director General of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.
Kumar Rajesh Chandra is a distinguished and decorated officer and is the recipient of President’s Police Medal for Distinguish Service, Police Medal for Meritorious Service, Special Duty Medal and Antarik Surakhsha Medal.
