After the arrival of Indian Police Service’s Punjab cadre officer Kanwardeep Kaur, women will have a say on important positions in the police of City Beautiful Chandigarh. The Punjab government has relieved IPS Kanwardeep Kaur from the post of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Ferozepur yesterday. IPS Kanwar Deep Kaur will take charge of SSP Chandigarh. She will be the second woman officer to be posted on this profile .
Kanwardeep Kaur is a 2013 batch IPS officer of the Punjab cadre. After being relieved from the post of Ferozepur SSP, she met Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann at the Punjab Secretariat on Tuesday. Kanwardeep was supposed to take up the new assignment tomorrow itself, but due to the Holi festival , she decided to postpone it for a day. After IPS Kanwardeep Kaur takes charge as SSP of Chandigarh, Chandigarh Police (Chandigarh police) will have women officers on three crucial posts of SP level.
At present Manisha Chowdhary, IPS of Haryana Cadre is posted here as SSP (Traffic). Manisha handles the security work along with the traffic police. Shruti Arora, IPS of AGMUT cadre, is currently holding the post of SP (City).
