It was an ideal occasion to spread the message of peace and harmony between the two communities. On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on Sunday, a group of young girls and women tied rakhi to senior police officers of Delhi gate police station in the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. Meerut Kotwali area’s DSP Dinesh Shukla and Delhi gate’s Station House Officer, Inspector Vijay Gupta who wanted to set an example of harmony and brotherhood, assured them of safety and security for women in the area. An initiative by these cops won the hearts of residents living around the police station. Narrow lanes, old markets which form part of Delhi gate area is one of the most sensitive areas of Meerut. That’s why the celebration of Raksha Bandhan was important for setting an example of harmony and brotherhood.
