The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested 6 people from Meerut and one from Delhi in the recent police recruitment exam paper leak case. Police claim that the accused are members of a gang who make arrangements ranging from leaking competitive examination papers to solving question papers.
Police say that the accused allegedly took 8 to 10 lakh rupees from the candidates by promising to leak the question paper.
UP Police’s STF said in a statement on Wednesday that the accused are members of a gang allegedly involved in the question paper leak case of Uttar Pradesh Recruitment and Promotion Board examination held on February 17 and 18. The state government had canceled this examination after the allegations of large-scale paper leak and protests at different places . Some people were arrested earlier this month.
Police officials said that the accused Deepak, Bittu, Praveen, Rohit, Naveen and Sahil, all residents of Meerut district, were arrested from a house in Kankar Khera police station area of District Meerut , on Tuesday night. Pramod Pathak, a resident of Gautam Buddha Nagar, was arrested the same night from Mukherjee Nagar in Delhi.
The gang is also allegedly involved in arranging paper solvers and leaking questions to candidates preparing for competitive exams, the STF statement said. The police investigators seized several documents related to the 2024 constable recruitment exam, solved question papers, several mobile phones and cash from the accused.
STF has registered two FIRs against the accused under the different sections of Indian Penal Code. Among them one is registered at kankarkhera police station in Meerut and another at Sector 39 police station of the Noida , Gautam Budha Nagar.
