Top Cop replaced in 3 months : Vinay Kumar is new DGP of Bihar

The Bihar government has removed IPS Alok Raj from the post of Director General of Police (DGP) during a  reshuffling of the police department.  1991 batch IPS officer Vinay Kumar has been appointed  the new DGP of the state.
 The Home Department of the state government has issued a notification about this reshuffle late Friday evening. According to notification , Alok Raj has been appointed  the Managing Director of Bihar Police Bhawan Nirman Nigam  whereas Vinay Kumar, a 1991 batch Bihar cadre officer of the Indian Police Service Vinay Kumar has been appointed as state police chief . He was  posted as  Director General cum Chairman Cum Managing Director  of Bihar Police Bhawan Nirman Nigam .
 It has been said in this notification that IPS Vinay Kumar will continue at  the post of DGP of Bihar for two years.

Earlier, Vinay Kumar has served at   important posts like Additional Director General (Law and Order) and Additional Director General (CID) in Bihar Police. Vinay Kumar, a science student, has studied engineering from IIT (Kharagpur). The image of IPS Vinay Kumar is of an efficient and honest officer.

Notification about appointment of new DGP .

After RS Bhatti went on central deputation ,  three months ago, the charge of DGP of Bihar  was given to IPS Alok Raj, who is of 1989 batch. However, even then Vinay Kumar’s name popped up as a contender for the post of DGP.

New responsibility for IPS Jitendra Singh Gangwar:
Another IPS officer Jitendra Singh Gangwar has also been transferred. Mr. Gangwar, a 1993 batch IPS, was posted as the Director General of Civil Protection of Civil Protection. Now he has been transferred as Director General of Monitoring Investigation Bureau. They will also remain in the in -charge of Civil Protection DG and Commissioner.
