An off duty Delhi Police Cop Ravindra and a share market consultant Saurabh Gupta created the story of bravery and courage on the street of National Capital. They caught two armed robbers and foiled the robbery bid while facing bullets in Yamuna Vihar area of North East delhi.
Joined Delhi Police in the 1991 as a Constable, Assistant Sub Inspector Ravindra is presently posted at complaint branch in Deputy Commissioner of Police office in Central Delhi district in Daryaganj. ASI Ravindra has been conferred with ‘Asadharan Karya Puraskar’ by Delhi Police Commissioner S N Shrivastava for his exceptional and brave work. “He nabbed one of the accused, by going beyond the call of his duty.” said a press release.
Incident happened on March 17th at around 8:30 PM when ASI Ravindra was on his way back to his residence after finishing his duty. As soon as he reached Noor-E-Illahi are at Anand Sagar Road, he found three persons were scuffling with each other and he also heard a sound of firing. Before he could understand, he saw one person running with a pistol in his hand, He left his motorcycle and started chasing him. After chasing him for around 50 meters, he overpowered and nabbed the robber along with his pistol. On checking 3 live cartridges were found in the pistol.
Later on, the apprehended person was identified as Imran alias Modal, a resident of nearby New Musrafabad. When he was returning with this Imran towards the initial spot, he saw a group of people assaulting the other robber, who was caught by the injured victim Saurabh Gupta.
According to press release, ASI Ravindra handled the situation tactfully and persuaded the group. The other robber was later on identified as Imran a resident of Nehru Vihar. Both the accused were handed over to local police of Police Station Bhajanpura for further investigation.
Since the incident happened in the area that had recently witnessed communal riots. Ravindra rescued Imran by telling that he himself is a police personnel. Meanwhile locals helped injured Saurabh who was shot in the abdomen.
