Known as a tough cop , Renuka K. Sukumar , took charge as Police Commissioner of Hubballi – Dharwad. A 2011 batch IPS officer of Karnataka cadre, Ms. Sukumar is the first woman to occupy the post of police commissioner of the twin cities.
After taking charge on Thursday,Renuka Sukumar said that all steps will be taken to maintain law and order in the twin cities by taking senior police officials and the public into confidence.
Karnataka state government on Wednesday issued the order appointing Renuka K. Sukumar as the Commissioner of Police, Hubballi-Dharwad City. Prior to this, Renuka Sukumar was the Deputy Commandant General, Home Guards & Ex officio Deputy Director of Civil Defence.
Ms. Sukumar, who has earlier served as DCP in the Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissionerate, said that there are several senior police officials in the twin cities and she will utilise their services efficiently in the maintenance of law and order.
