Rajya Sabha MP R K Sinha said that policing is increasingly becoming difficult in the wake of growing threat to internal security. Speaking at the inaugural session of the fifth International Police Expo in Delhi on Friday, Sinha said that modernisation of police is need of the hour and the Central government should allocate sufficient budget for it. He however expressed hope that the budget on internal security would increase especially after Amit Shah became Home Minister . The international Police Expo will conclude on Saturday.
He clarified that policing is not just about maintaining law and order but much more than this. He further said that the current ratio of police and population in India is pretty due to which terrorist organisations are able to strike anywhere without much problem in India. ” Terrorists are more intelligent and well -equipped”, the MP said and added that the police authorities need to upgrade infrastructure and become fully equipped so that they can foil the attempts of terrorist organisations.
Stating that India is a big market for equipments worth billions of rupees, the Rajya Sabha MP Sinha said that there is a need to integrate investigation, detection, intelligence and infrastructure development for better policing in India.
Later at the session, Ranjit Narayan, Executive Director of GMR group and Retired IPS officer was conferred with the life time achievement award by the organisers of the exhibition, Nexgen Exhibitions Private Limited. IPS Ranjit Narayan is an IPS officer of 1978 batch of AGMUT cadre. He has served in Delhi Police as Special Commissioner, Special Protection Group, Intelligence Bureau and other forces. He has also worked on deputation in several countries.
