Major reshuffle in Punjab Police: 28 officers including many District SSPs changed

Senior Superintendents of several  districts have been changed in a  major reshuffle  in Punjab Police. Police officers posted on some other important posts have also been shifted.  The total number of officers transferred is 28, in which there are many IPS officers and many PPS officers.

Among the 28 officers whose names are mentioned in the transfer order issued today (2 August 2024) by the Home and Justice Department of the Punjab Government, the first is the most senior IPS Gurpreet Singh Bhullar. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, a 2004 batch Punjab cadre officer of the Indian Police Service, has been posted as Inspector General of Police (Provisioning) in Chandigarh. Mr. Bhullar was still on the waiting list for posting.

At the same time, Rakesh Kaushal, IPS of 2009 batch, has been removed from the post of Deputy Inspector General of Amritsar Border Range and posted as DIG (Crime) in Chandigarh.

One of the youngest IPS officers, Darpan Ahluwalia of 2020 batch has been appointed as Staff Officer (SO) to the DGP.

New SSP for these districts :

The SSPs of Bathinda, Amritsar (Rural), Mansa, SAS Nagar, Tarn Taran, Moga, Batala, Faridkot, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Malerkotla, Pathankot, Jalandhar (Rural) and Fazilka districts have been changed.
