Police officer Simala Prasad: Real as well as Reel

Simla Prasad , an Indian Police Service officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre,  will now play the lead role in the upcoming Hindi film ‘The Narmada Story’. Starring Raghubir Yadav and Mukesh Tiwari ,the movie is based on true events in which  Simala Prasad is playing the role of an investigating officer.

Jagam Imam, who has received accolades for films like Alif and Nakkash, is the director of ‘The Narmada Story’  while Raghubir Yadav, Mukesh Tiwari and Anjali Patil are in important roles. The film has been shot in Madhya Pradesh.

Breaking away from the usual trends seen in Hindi cinema, ‘The Narmada Story’ is a suspense thriller based on real life events. It presents the actors as larger than life personalities.

Speaking about her role, IPS officer Simala Prasad said that policing is an important aspect of her life where many officers are trying their best to take the department forward through various creative approaches.

Simala Prasad says that she is happy to work with eminent experienced artists of her home state Madhya Pradesh. Simala Prasad, who joined IPS service in 2010, believes that this film will be an eye opener in many ways.

Who is Simala Prasad:

The civil services examination of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is definitely one of the toughest examinations in India. To pass it, candidates have to undergo hours of study . While some people have to make several attempts to pass the UPSC CSE exam, some people crack it in the very first attempt. One such personality  is IPS Simala Prasad, who passed the UPSC examination  in her very first attempt. Not only this, she passed the exam without coaching. Simala Prasad  is a 2010 batch IPS officer and is currently posted in Madhya Pradesh.

Born in October 1980 in Bhopal, Simala Prasad studied at St. Joseph’s Co-Ed School. After this she studied B.Com in graduation and after that she studied Sociology in post graduation from Barkatullah University, Bhopal. After completing college, Simala passed the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) examination. She was posted as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). During this time, she started preparing for the UPSC examinations only by self-study and later became successful in it.

IPS Simala Prasad’s father Dr. Bhagirath Prasad is a 1975 batch IAS officer, who was also the Vice Chancellor of two universities. Not only this, Dr. Prasad was a Lok Sabha member from Bhind, Madhya Pradesh from 2014 to 2019. Simala’s mother Mehrunnisa Parvez is a well-known writer.

Simala Prasad was fond of dancing and acting since childhood. During her school-college days, she was very involved in plays and other activities. She also worked in some films. But she never thought of joining civil services but later she became an IPS officer.
