Biju George Joseph, a 1995 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who served as the commissioner of police in Jodhpur twice, was appointed the new police chief of the capital city Jaipur, as per order released by the state government late on Monday evening.
Biju was serving as Additional Director General of Vigilance at police headquarters in Jaipur . He replaced Anand Srivastava, a 1994 batch IPS officer. Shri Srivastava has had a long stint as the police commissioner. He was made the Jaipur Police commissioner soon after the Ashok Gehlot government came to power in December 2018. Srivastava will now take charge as the Additional Director General (ADG), law and order.
Biju George Joseph has worked as the officiating commissioner of police for some time in Jaipur and has had two short tenure as police chief in Jodhpur. Biju George Joseph was here from August 2013 to January 2014 and from January 2019 to July 2019.
