2010 batch IPS officer Prabhakar Chaudhary , popular for simplicity and honesty, has also been in headlines due to his transfers. He has been transferred 21 times in his thirteen year police career. It had hardly been four months since Prabhakar Chowdhary, who was SSP or SP in many districts, was posted as SSP of Bareilly.
The reason for the removal of IPS Prabhakar Chaudhary from Bareilly is being sought in the ruckus created by the kanwariyas. It seems that some notorious elements in Bareilly were trying to create disturbances by spoiling the communal harmony. Following the orders of IPS Prabhakar Chowdhary, the police took strict action without any bias and did not cared about political pressure or interference.
Different working style :
Although IPS Prabhakar Chaudhary works with simplicity, his style is very unique. He went on leave the day he was supposed to take charge of the SSP Meerut on June 15th , 2023. But the reality was something else . Actually during leave period , from 15 to 17 June , he went around the city secretly and took stock of the situation. Meerut has been infamous for the trade of stolen vehicles for decades. Prabhakar Chowdhary prepared a list of mafia as soon as he arrived. Property worth crores of Naeem alias Haji Galla, the kingpin of vehicle thieves, has been seized. Apart from this, the property of many other criminals were attached. Within a short span of time, more than 50 dealers indulging in trade activities of stolen vehicles were sent to jail.
IPS Prabhakar Chowdhary also came into limelight when he reached Kanpur to take charge of the post of SP. He was hanging a bag on his back like a student and travelled in a roadways bus. He said that this was like a normal routine for him. The family was in Lucknow and he had to come alone. Because Kanpur is not far away therefore he decided to travel in a bus as he used to commute by bus during student life. .
Prabhakar Chowdhary also comes into limelight for doing experiments in the police department. As a SP in Deoria, he had prepared a system for deployment of capable officers as incharge of Police Stations . For this, the officers had to undergo an internal test/examination. The in-charge of the police station was appointed on the basis of merit. In such a situation, there was no issue related to recommendation of any politician , MLA or minister etc. Noone was able to seek undue favours.
Who is Prabhakar Chowdhary:
Prabhakar Chowdhary was born on 1 January 1984 in Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. His father’s name is Paras Nath Chowdhary. Prabhakar used to study for five to six hours daily. As a child, Prabhakar Choudhary wanted to become a chemistry lecturer. Got 76 percent marks in Intermediate, then passed B.Sc from Allahabad University with 61 percent marks. Later he studied LLB and became IPS after passing the UPSC’s civil services exam in the very first attempt. Prabhakar was successful in the Civil Services Examination in 2010 batch.
