Indian Police Service officer Ankit Mittal has been posted as Superintendent of Police of Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh. He replaced IPS Akash Tomar who is one batch senior to him.
In a fresh order the Government of Uttar Pradesh transferred , a 2013 batch IPS officer , Akash Tomar to replace IPS Ankit Mittal posted as Commandant of the 8th Battalion of PAC in Bareilly, on Tuesday. Sources said that some more IPS officers are also to be transferred.
IPS Ankit Mittal:
Amit Mittal , the new Superintendent of Police, Gonda is an Indian Police Service officer of 2014. He is native of Sonipat, Haryana. Ankit Mittal is also active on social media. While leaving Bareilly, he tweeted and thanked the police colleagues there. Amit Mittal said in the message, “After a pleasant tenure of PAC of 1.25 years, transferred from here today. Everywhere you get to learn and understand something new. All fellow personnel gave utmost respect and affection. Thanks to all. Next stop #Superintendent of Police Gonda”.
Before being transferred to PAC in Bareilly, Ankit Mittal was the Superintendent of Police of Chitrakoot. At the same time, his name cropped up in the encounter case of a wanted criminal dacoit Bhalchandra Yadav. After the complaint of the family members of Bhalchandra Yadav, a case was registered on the orders of the court in which IPS Ankit Mittal was also made an accused. The allegation was that Bhalchandra Yadav and his brother Lalchandra were caught by SP and STF members while coming from Satna on production and then both were shot dead. Ankit Mittal has also been the SP of Rampur.
IPS Akash Tomar:
Akash Tomar is a 2013 batch officer of the Indian Police Service. 34 year old Akash Tomar has a huge fan following on social media. He is a native of Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh and holds a B.Tech degree in Information Technology. Akash Tomar has been a student of IIIT (Triple I T) Allahabad.
IPS Akash Tomar has been the SP of Saharanpur in 2021-22. Akash Tomar, as soon as took charge, had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the cases of mining mafia and former MLC Haji Iqbal. Many cases were registered against Haji Iqbal and his family members on the basis of the evidence collected by SIT. Haji Iqbal and Munshi Naseem’s property worth 125 crores were also attached. On the other hand, Haji’s three sons Alishan, Javed and Afzal were sent to jail under the Goonda Act. However, this tenure of Akash Tomar was not even for a year.
IPS Akash Tomar has received praise and honor twice from the Director General of Police. He got DG Commendation Silver Disc in 2020 and Gold Disc in January 2023.
Transfer of other officers:
The Uttar Pradesh government relieved six IPS officers, including Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Security BK Singh, for central deputation. Other IPS officers are yet to be posted in their place. Among the relieved officers are LV Antony Devkumar posted in Vigilance, Inspector General of Police (IG) Modak Rajesh Dinesh Rao posted in CBCID, Superintendent of Police (SP) Satyendra Kumar posted in PAC, SP Sujata Singh posted in Women and Child Protection Organization and SP Meenakshi Katyayan posted in Noida Police Commissionerate.
Earlier on Monday, the police Chiefs of two districts were exchanged. IPS Rajesh Kumar Singh has been transferred to Etah and has been posted as SSP. Uday Shankar Singh, who was the SSP of Etah, has taken Rajesh’s place as the new SP of Fatehpur district.
