International Police Expo: Rajkot Suraksha Kavach App gets Excellence award 2019

Rajkot Suraksha Kavach App has received Excellence award 2019 at the Fifth International Police Expo in Delhi. Rajkot Police Commissioner Manoj Agarwal received the award at the Police Technology conference on Friday, held on day one of International Police Expo.

Rajkot Suraksha Kavach App is a special mobile phone application of meant for senior cops to keep track of history-sheeters and criminals and monitor junior and other field level employees in Rajkot. The unique App helps overcome the issue of adverse ration of offiers and subordinate staff faced across the police department. It helps top officers to keep a real time check of each and every listed criminal including their recent photo, last location, movement live on map.

It also helps senior officers to keep a check on beat constables or other field level employees deployed in any branch or police station. The app was officially launched in April this year but it is being used by senior cops since July 2018.

Speaking to Rakshsak News, Manan Maharaja of Tech Police, the app was using during Lok Sabha elections extensively by the Rajkot police which successfully kept a vigil on criminals and bottleggers in their areas throughout the election campaign and also on the night before voting. Maharaja of Tech Police claimed that the crime rate in Rajkot has come down by nearly 40 per cent in one year.

The Rajkot city has seen a decline in property offences by 40 per cent, illegal peddling by 70 per cent and fight or scuffle at public places by 15 per cent, he claimed. It has helped top cops in fixing accountablity of field staff while reducing pressure of doing huge paperwork at the end of the day.

The App has several features of real time check and GIS mapping for notorious persons; bootleggers; history sheeters; Drug peddlers; gamblers. The App has features of location based police guard or picket attendence, CCTV mapping, police station boundaries, besides division wise boundaries. All polling booths and routes of Lok Sabha elections had been mapped.
