Four head constables of Delhi Police Joginder Singh, Vijay, Sanej and Krishan were conferred with Asadharan Karya Puraskar’ by Commissioner S N Shrivastava for showing high sense of responsibility in discharging of their official duties and putting their lives in danger in the line of duty. These head Constables are posted in Police Station Mundka in West Delhi.
According to police officials the incident happened on the night of March 19th. HC Joginder Singh was deployed on QRT vehicle from 8 AM to 8 PM duty. During patrolling, when he reached at Loknayak Puram area in Bakkarwala , he heard screaming noise of a woman. He met the lady who told that two boys have robbed her gold chain & locket at gun point and fled away towards fields.
HC Joginder Singh immediately informed SHO of Mundka as well as nearby beat staff and started chasing the accused persons in fields. One of the robber fired on HC Joginder Singh, he retaliated the fire with one round in self defence. During this, both accused persons reached at factory area of Village Hirankudna and robbed a motorcycle at gun point and fled away.
Seeing this, Joginder Singh shared the description of the robbers with SHO, beat staff as well as picket staff. Mundka SHO immediately informed Vijay, Sanej, Krishan, deployed at Hirankudna Mor and himslef reached at Hiran Kudna Mor with staff. On the description of accused persons, the picket staff noticed both robbers coming towards Hiran Kudna Mor on the same robbed motorcycle. On seeing the police party, one of the robber opened fired aiming at Head Constable Vijay Kumar. In retaliation, Vijay fired 2 rounds and overpowered one of the robbers where as HC Krishan overpowered the second one.
Robbers were identified as Dharmender of JJ Colony in Sawada are of Delhi while another is Romil . Romil is resident of Jamrud Pur Village of Greater Kailash in Delhi.
