During the investigation, the police officers came to know that IPS C Vijay Kumar was undergoing treatment for a few weeks. According to doctor IPS C Vijay Kumar had obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Tamil Nadu’s Additional Director General (Law and Order) A Arun said that ‘depression’ was the reason behind C Vijay Kumar’s suicide. According to A Arun , the doctor confirmed that the level of depression in C. Vijay Kumar had increased a lot. C Vijay Kumar himself had reported this problem to the doctor. On this, the doctor had given him some new medicines to help in depression control.
Speaking to reporters, after paying tributes to C Vijay Kumar , at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, Additional Director General (Law and Order) A Arun said that DIG C Vijay Kumar was neither facing any family problem nor there was work pressure on him. He said that acute depression led to this unfortunate incident.
Mortal remains of C Vijay Kumar were sent to his native place, Anekkaripatti in Theni district,for last rites after postmortem.
Chief Minister MK Stalin has condoled the death of DIG C Vijay Kumar. In a statement, he said that C Vijay Kumar was a brilliant officer and brought laurels to Tamil Nadu. Director General of Police Shankar Jiwal described C Vijay Kumar as a hardworking officer and said that it is a personal loss for him.
IPS C Vijay Kumar has been the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Kanchipuram, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam and Thrivur districts. His last posting in Chennai was the DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) of Anna Nagar.
