More than 35 companies participated in the Mega Job Fair to recruit the YUVA trainees in ‘ Mega Job Fair ‘ organised by the Perception Management and Media Cell (PM&MC) division of Delhi Police. An organisation called Step Ahead Foundation, with the help of other partners, trained these youngsters in different fields. Out of 1508 YUVA trainees who participated in the job fair event, more than 1317 candidates were given letters of intent and 275 candidates were given confirmed job offers during this job fair program.
The event “Mega Job Fair” was organised at Maharaja Agrasen College in the East district . It is a community policing initiative for Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) programme aimed at providing employment to vulnerable and underprivileged youth.
According to a press release YUVA 2.0 Project of Delhi Police is being run in all districts of Delhi in association with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), working under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) . Total 13 training partners are providing skill-training to 3311 YUVA candidates at 70 Training Centers, all existing inside the premises of Police Stations in all 15 districts. These youngsters are being trained in 18 different job skills including Assistant Electrician, Solar PV Helper, Light Motor Vehicle Driver, Energy Meter Technician, Beauty Therapist, Makeup Artist etc.
Lauding the initiative, the chief guest Special Commissioner Sanjay Singh stated that it is encouraging to see the YUVA trainees participating in the job-linked skill training programmes to begin a new chapter in their lives. He stated that the celebration of flagship job fair events like YUVA 2.0 is a testimony of our efforts in enhancing employment opportunities for under-served sections of society and enabling them to fine tune their skills to become job givers in the community. He emphasized that Delhi Police is committed to encourage underprivileged youths to earn their livelihood by good means and to refrain from wrongdoings. Under the scheme of YUVA 2.0, dedication of Delhi Police was stressed upon to engage with youths in a constructive manner at all levels and emphasised to continue this initiative with full vigour.
