Delhi Police saluted the policemen who lost their lives in service
The Delhi Police today organized a Commemoration Day Parade in remembrance of Police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty while serving their respective forces between September 1st , 2023 and August .2024.
 Commemoration Day Parade was held at Parade Ground of New Police Lines in, Kingsway Camp, Vivek Gogia Special Commissioner ( Operations ) read out the names of martyrs of Delhi Police, State and Central Police Organizations who laid down their lives in the line of duty, during the period.
Officers laid wreaths at the Police Memorial during the Police Commemoration Day parade.
According to a press release , In all, 216 police personnel including 5 of  Delhi Police breathed their last while serving in their respective forces.
State and Central Police Organizations-wise details of personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty during the mentioned period are :  Andhra Pradesh-2, Arunachal Pradesh-2, Assam-6, Bihar-15, Chhattisgarh-11, Jharkhand-4, Karnataka-5, Kerala-1, Madhya Pradesh-23, Maharashtra-3, Manipur-6, Meghalaya-1, Nagaland-4, Odisha-2, Punjab-2, Rajasthan-20, Tamil Nadu-5, Telangana-1, Tripura-3, Uttar Pradesh-2, Uttarakhand-4,                      West Bengal-9, Andaman & Nicobar Islands-1, Jammu & Kashmir-7, BSF-19, CISF-6, CRPF-23, ITBP-6, SSB-2, Fire Service, Civil Defence & Home Guards-2,  RPF-14  and Delhi-5.

Shri  Gogia alongwith  Special Commissioner Nuzhat Hasan paid homage to martyrs by laying a wreath at the memorial. Former Governors Kiran Bedi & Dr. Krishan Kant  Paul, retired Police Commissioners  T.R. Kakkar, B.K. Gupta, Neeraj Kumar, Bhim Sen  Bassi,  Alok Kumar Verma ,  Rakesh Asthana , Balaji Srivastava and also serving & retired Delhi Police officers & persons also paid homage by laying wreath at the memorial. A two minutes silence was also observed in remembrance of martyrs.
On October 21, 1959, ten Policemen laid down their lives while defending the integrity of their motherland at Hot Spring (Ladakh) in an ambush laid by heavily armed Chinese troops, who had violated Indian territory in Aksai Chin.
In 1960, during DGsP/IGsP Conference, heads of all Police Organisations of India decided to observe the 21st October as Police Commemoration Day in the memory of these ten gallant martyrs.
