Delhi Police, today (16 February 2024) celebrated its 77th Raising Day with a grand ceremonial parade at New Police Lines in Kingsway camp.Sh. Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai took the salute as Chief Guest in the presence of Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora.
The parade was comprised of all women contingents of ceremonial armed police, security battalion, commandos, traffic, all women scooty patrolling squad, bicycle patrolling squad and PCR squad. The All-Women Delhi Police Band was also an attraction of the parade.
Contingents of Mounted Police , Dog Squad, NEAT, Prakhar, Prakram, SWAT, Vajra, Vikrant, Traffic exhibition vehicle, Facial Recognition System vehicle, Nyayik Abhiraksha Vahan and Delhi Police Public Relation Office vehicle fitted with audio/video facilities were also a part of today’s grand parade. The march past was followed by an exhilarating performance of Nukkad Natak on a theme based on Drug Abuse, performed by Delhi Police staff.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Rai congratulated the rank and file of Delhi Police and commended the dedication and sacrifice displayed by Delhi Police in ensuring the safety and security of the National Capital and further added that Delhi Police, with its exemplary professionalism, has always risen to the occasion, safeguarding the lives and interests of every citizen.
In his welcome address, Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora greeted all guests on the occasion of Delhi Police Raising Day and expressed his gratitude towards the Chief Guest for participating in the function. He further mentioned that for a long term development in human resource, Delhi Police had completed the recruitment process of 10,904 candidates in a record time and by year-end a large number of them will join the force after due process.
Shri Arora further added that during the DGP/IGP conference, at-length discussion was done on the new criminal laws and to adopt these laws, Delhi Police has started training processes in different categories and a target has been set to train 8,800 Investigating Officers and other concerned staff till March. The National Law University, National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) and Bureau for Police Research and Development (BPR&D) are also cooperating Delhi Police in this pursuit.
The Police Commissioner claimed that in 2023, there is a fall of 2.5% in heinous crime in comparison to that of 2022. Shri Arora lauded the efforts of police personnel who are discharging their duties in every kind of situation, without even caring for their lives. He highlighted the valour of more than 100 Delhi Police personnel who have sustained injuries in the line of duty during last one year.
