After the transfer of some officers of the AGMUT cadre of the Indian Police Service on July 25 and the retirement of 2 officers of the same cadre, many officers of the Special Commissioner rank in Delhi Police have got new responsibilities. In total, these are 7 IPS officers.
Seven senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of the rank of Special Commissioner in Delhi Police were assigned new roles after the order issued by the Union Territory of Delh’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Thursday. According to this order, 1995 batch IPS officer Devesh Chandra Srivastava has been appointed as the new Crime Branch chief. Devesh Srivastava was earlier the police chief in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Union Home Ministry had transferred him to Delhi in its order dated July 25. Prior to Devesh Srivastava, IPS Shalini Singh was the Special Commissioner (Crime) of Delhi. 1996 batch IPS officer Shalini Singh was transferred to Puducherry as the state police chief (dgp of puducherry) on July 25 this year by the same order of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Similarly, 1996 batch IPS officer Ajay Chaudhary will now be the new Special Police Commissioner (Traffic). Chaudhary’s predecessor HGS Dhaliwal (1997 batch IPS) has been transferred to Andaman and Nicobar as the new police chief, at the position vacated by Devesh Srivastava’s return to Delhi.
After the retirement of Special Commissioner (Security) Dipendra Pathak and Special Commissioner (Human Resource Department) SK Gautam, two posts fell vacant. In place of SK Gautam, 1991 batch Nuzhat Hasan has been transferred as Special CP (HRD). 1997 batch IPS officer Sharad Agarwal has been posted on the post of Special CP (Economic Offenses Wing) which fell vacant due to the transfer of Nuzhat Hasan. Sharad Agarwal was Joint Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation on deputation.
Among the other officers who have been assigned new roles in the order issued by the LG Secretariat, there is also 1994 batch IPS officer Neeraj Thakur, who has now been made Special CP-cum-Managing Director of Delhi Police Housing Corporation Limited. Whereas 1996 batch IPS officer and former Goa state police chief Jaspal Singh has been given the responsibility of Special Commissioner (Security).
