Delhi Traffic Police has shifted its strategy from physical traffic enforcement to electronic enforcement in order to protect the health of police personnel and public. Now traffic police has anounced about prioritising action against improper parking and lane violation during driving in the coming weeks.

According to a press release , during the lockdown period , between March 25th – May 17th , Delhi Traffic Police have issued 1,00,436 notices through SMS and 80 notices through speed post under compoundable offence category based on violations captured by cameras. Moreover , violation against improper parking were also registered through violation on Camera App and 7998 notices were sent.

In this pandemic situation, Delhi Traffic Police in association with the society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Indraprastha Gas Ltd and Eicher Motor Ltd. organised a road safety and corona sensitization campaign for commercial vehicle drivers at Burari ground and more than 3000 Kits were distributed among the truck drivers and also sensitized them as to how to protect from Covid-19 infection.

Police is focusing on contactless traffic enforcement drive and maximum use of camera-based violation detection i.e violation on Camera Application, Traffic sentinel, OSVD, RLVD and Tripod mounted Laser Speed Gun Camera etc.for detection of a traffic violation.

” Establishment of virtual court on May13th for disposing of camera-based traffic violations will further strengthen the traffic discipline in the city. So far virtual court established for the above purpose has consumed 32,722 (till 18th May) non compoundable offences for disposal.” said the release.

According to police officials ensuring action against improper parking and lane violation during driving , in the coming weeks will be their priority.
