IPS Vandita Pandey and V Varun Kumar:
V Varun Kumar of 2011 batch of Indian Police Service is a native of Tamil Nadu while his wife Vandita Pandey hails from Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad) in Uttar Pradesh. Active on social media the IPS couple has a good fan following. They have shared many impressive pictures and videos of their personal life and moments spent with family.
Beginning of the controversy:
Last August, the IPS couple also came into the news when objectionable comments were made about them on social media. Angered by this, IPS V Varun Kumar had sent a notice to Tamil Nadu political party NTK (naam tamilar katchi) leader and film actor Seeman, holding him responsible for civil and criminal defamation. In this, a claim of Rs 2 crore was made as compensation for defamation and mental torture. This 8-page notice was also posted on his handle on social media. Later, on his complaint, which was made in his personal capacity, a case was registered against three NTK activists in Trichy Cyber Police.
V Varun Kumar alleges that fake accounts were used on social media to spread false propaganda and comments about him and his family. NTK activists were majorly involved in this. On Monday, the hearing of this case was held in the court of Judicial Magistrate (IV) in Chennai where the statement of IPS V Varun Kumar was recorded. Now 7 January has been fixed for the hearing of this case.
