Naxalites once again targeted the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and killed 10 jawans by using an IED blast. A driver of the vehicle was also among the dead. All these jawans were posted in the District Reserve Group (DRG). After this unfortunate incident on Wednesday, the Odisha Police has also sounded a high alert in its three districts of Malkangiri, Korapat and Nabarangpur, adjoining Chhattisgarh, and has also been ordered to start intensive combing operation in Naxal-affected areas.

This deadly attack on CRPF took place in Aranpur area of district Dantewada in Chhattisgarh. Here the IED hidden by the Naxalites was detonated when the CRPF vehicle came under its purview. Bastar Inspector General of Police P Sundarraj said that the bodies are being brought out from the scene of the incident and a search operation has also been launched. He said that 10 DRG jawans have lost their lives and the 11th person killed was the civilian driver of the vehicle.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also condemned Naxalites attack on CRPF in Dantewada of Chhattisgarh. He has tweeted condemning the attack and paid tribute to the deceased soldiers. Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel over the phone regarding the incident and also promised all possible help to the state.
