Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized on action against illegal drug trade in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir , in a review meeting during his two day visit in Jammu. Shri Shah appreciated the improvement in the security situation .
According to a press release there is reduction in terror related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. In 2018 total number of terror incidents were 417 where as in 2021 this fugure was 229. Moreover there is a decrease in the number of security forces personnel martyred from 91 in 2018 to 42 in 2021. Shri Shah emphasized on proactive operations against terrorists and denying them safe haven or financial support.
Union Home Minister also directed the security forces and police to ensure real time coordination for effective counter-terrorism operations and monitoring activities of terrorists from jails. Shri Shah ordered further strengthening of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Jammu &Kashmir to choke narco terrorism.
Shri Amit Shah said the security grid should be further strengthened to ensure zero cross-border infiltration and to eliminate terrorism completely in order to achieve vision of a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
Apart from Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha , Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla , Director of Intelligence Bureau Arvind Kumar, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta, Director General of Jammu Kashmir Police Dibagh Singh , DG of BSF Pankaj Singh and few more officers were present during the review meeting .
