Celebrating the 55th Anniversary, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) displayed a splendid show with an impressive parade and delightful demonstrations today at campus of 25 th Battalion in Ghitorni area of Capital New Delhi. The eight decorated marching contingents marched past the saluting base with great vigor and pride. The grand campus of Battalion was jubilant as Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, inspected the parade along with Surjeet Singh Deswal, Director General of border force SSB.

The highlights of the function included a magnificent march past of the nine decorated contingents drawn from all the frontiers of SSB and included three special contingents of Special Ops, a women contingent and the canine squad, this was followed by an speech by Shri Rijiju. He motivated all force personnel to strive towards excellence in all endeavours of the Force. This was followed by felicitation of 3 recipients of the President’s Police medal and 22 recipients of the Indian Police Medal for the year 2018 and awards to SSB battalions and frontiers in recognition of their outstanding performance in the sphere of border guarding duties were also given.

Thereafter, the audience was entertained with thrilling demonstrations by SSB’s daredevil team and the adorable yet disciplined Dog squad. The energetic displays of Thang ta, Tao lu, Sepaktakraw and Mountaineering mesmerized everyone present in the viewers’ gallery.

Union Minister of State, Shri Kiren Rijiju in his address appreciated the discipline, swiftness and synchronization shown by the SSB’s men and women marching contingents and admired the professional functioning of SSB on the friendly borders of India with Nepal and Bhutan.

MoS for Home Sh Rijiju expressed his concern on the menace of human trafficking and child labour and lauded SSB’s initiative of not just curtailing them but also of rehabilitating the victims of these crimes by giving them skill development training in collaboration with NSDC for making them self reliant.

The commendable work of SSB’s 18 Rescue and Relief teams as first responders during calamities and the achievements of SSB’s sportpersons of winning more than 700 international medals was highly appreciated by Kiren Rijiju. He recalled his long and close association with SSB and its activities since his childhood and wished the Force much more success in future.

Dignitaries such as the Lok Sabha Member and President Wrestling Federation of India Brij Bhushan Singh; Nepalese Miniter of Economy Krishna Hari Puskar; Third Secretary of Nepal Dev Doot Dhakal, Deputy Chief Mission of Bhutan, Sonam Topgey and Chief of Nepal Armed Police Shailender Khanal were present during the function. Director General of Border Security Force Rajnikant Mishra, Director General of National Security Guards Sudeep Lakhtakia were also there as guests.
