India’s biggest central armed police force Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) felicitated its Bravehearts , who were awarded Gallantry Medal this Independence Day for exhibiting raw courage, exemplary fortitude, unparalleled devotion to the motherland, and nerves of steel in the gravest life threatening situations. Director General of CRPF , Kuldiep Singh honoured the medal recipients by presenting a memento. Family members of Posthumously awarded Bravehearts were also felicitated in the ceremony here in New Delhi today.
CRPF bagged 154 Gallantry awards, highest ever and highest among all CAPFs, on 75th Independence Day of India . Awards included 3 prestigious Shaurya Chakra, 1 President’s. Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) (Posthumous) and 150 Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) , taking the medal tally of the force to 2267. The phenomenal display of exemplary courage coupled with indomitable spirit and selfless devotion to the nation brought laurels in the form of prestigious Shaurya Chakra for Deputy Commandant Chitesh Kumar, , Sub Inspector Manjinder Singh, and Constable Sunil Choudhary. Their conspicuous bravery in an operation in Sukma (Chhattisgarh) on March 26, 2019 neutralised 4 dreaded Maoists of PLGA cadre carrying 8 Lakh reward on their heads.
The nation bestowed Head Constable Kale Sunil Dattatraya with President’s. Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG – Posthumous) for his unparalleled courage and complete devotion to the integrity and honour of the nation. Despite perceiving grave peril to his life and being grievously injured in a 2020 anti terrorist operation in Pulwama (Kashmir) , he rushed towards the terrorist and neutralised him on the spot. He saved the lives of fellow personnel and made supreme sacrifice at the altar of duty.
The family members of six Posthumous awardees were invited, tenderly received, and duly honoured by DG of CRPF in the solemn ceremony held at Shaurya CRPF Officers Institute in Vasant Kunj area of New Delhi. The citations detailing the valour and courage of Gallantry Medal recipients were narrated before the audience. Later in the ceremony, the IPS Kuldeep Singh interacted with families of Martyrs and inquired about their well being.
DG Kuldiep Singh , congratulated the gallantry medal recipients and wished them the best for their future endeavours. He expressed the sincere gratitude and indebtedness of the force for the supreme sacrifice made by the Heroes. Expressing his pride at leading the Force that has a glorious history, the DG reiterated CRPF’s commitment to serve the nation with valour and devotion.
