Yashwini set out to complete husband’s journey, Air Chief congratulated her

Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhari meets Officer Cadet Yashwini Dhaka at the Officers Training Academy, Chennai.

If everything goes well during the training, Yashwini Dhaka,the wife of Squadron Leader Kuldeep Singh who lost his life in the horrific helicopter accident in December 2021, will also be a part of India’s Military Family as an officer. Her training will be completed in September 2024 at the Army’s Officers Training Academy in Chennai. Yashwini will complete the journey left mid-way by her late husband in serving the country’s Air Force.

Squadron Leader Kuldeep Singh Rao was the co-pilot in the  Mi-17 helicopter that met with an accident and crashed  on 8 December 2021 while carrying India’s first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Singh Rawat. Fourteen people including General Rawat and his wife lost their lives in this helicopter accident. Rest of them were all military officers. Squadron Leader Kuldeep Singh was a young officer from a military family belonging to Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. He was married to Yashaswini only two years ago.

Indian Air Force Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhari met Officer Cadet Yashwini at the Officers Training Academy (Chennai) today. The picture of this meeting has been posted by the Indian Air Force on X. Air Chief VR Chaudhari had gone as a reviewing officer for the passing out parade organized at OTA. The Air Force said that during his visit to the Officer Training Academy, Chennai, Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhari met Officer Cadet Yashwini Dhaka, wife of late Squadron Leader Kuldeep Singh.”

According to the Air Force, on successful completion of the training, Officer Cadet Yashwini is expected to be commissioned on September 24. The Chief of the Air Staff congratulated Yashwini on behalf of all air warriors. He appreciated her patience and determination.

Kuldeep Singh, belonging to a military family, had obtained commission in the Air Force in June 2015 and his last promotion as a squadron leader was in June 2021, six months before the accident. His father Randhir Singh retired from the Indian Navy. Not only this, Kuldeep Singh’s elder sister Abhita is also serving  in the  This family and clan of Jhunjhunu district has a history of serving in Indian Armed Forces.
