The Central Government has appointed the Vice Chief of the Indian Navy, Vice Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi as the next Chief of Naval Staff. Shri Tripathi will take charge on April 30 after the retirement of current Navy chief R. Hari Kumar.
Dinesh K. Tripathi was born on 15 May 1964. Shri Tripathi is an alumnus of Sainik School, Rewa and National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, He was appointed to the executive branch of the Indian Navy in 1985.
Communications and electronics warfare expert, Dinesh K. Tripathi also served as Signal Communications Officer and Electronic Warfare Officer on front line warships of the Navy and later as Executive Officer and Principal Warfare Officer of the guided missile destroyer INS Mumbai.
Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi’s maritime command includes INS Vinash, Kirch and Trishul. During his long and distinguished service of almost 39 years, Dinesh K. Tripathi also held various important operational and staff appointments, including Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet in Mumbai, Director of Naval Operations, Principal Director of Network Centric Operations and Principal Director Naval Plans.
