The matter of giving the additional declared ex gratia to the dependents of the martyred soldiers of the Kargil war remained pending for months in Uttarakhand. Now, after giving different arguments for this delay, ministers of the Uttarakhand government and the bureaucracy are talking about working on this matter immediately.
The announcement , related to ex – gratia amount , was made by the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on the occasion of Kargil Victory Day last year (26 July 2024) . He had said that an amount of Rs 50 lakh each would be given to the dependents of Kargil martyrs.
Amar Ujala has published a report on this. It says – After the announcement of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Dhami, the proposal was approved by the Justice Department of the State Government. The matter was sent to the Finance Department of the state government but the department objected saying that this would put a heavy financial burden on the government exchequer.
According to the statement of Uttarakhand Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi, a reply has been sent to the objection of the Finance Department. However, Finance Secretary Dilip Jawalkar says that this file did not go through him, it may have gone directly.
