Like Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand is also one of those states of North India where a large number of youth join the army. A large number of the population here is of ex-servicemen and families of soldiers. The latest announcement of Chief Minister Dhami is being seen as a political decision taken in the context of the defeat of Bharatiya Janata Party candidates in the recent by-elections in the state. Like the Center, there is a BJP government in Uttarakhand as well. Same is the case of Haryana.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the government had already decided that the Agniveers of the state would be given appointments in government departments. The government will also give them reservation and if necessary, the government will also make an Act for this.
CM Dhami said that the Agniveers who return after four years of army service should not be apprehensive about their secure future. He said that instructions have been given to the officials to prepare a concrete plan for this. He reiterated that Uttarakhand is a soldier-dominated state, the youth here join the Indian Army on a large scale. Therefore, the state government will leave no stone unturned in providing jobs to retired soldiers after completing four years of service in the army.
The Sainik Welfare Department is busy preparing a proposal in this regard. CM Dhami claimed that his government is working seriously in this direction.
