Second Indian Military Heritage Festival to start today in Delhi

The second annual Indian Military Heritage Festival will begin in New Delhi from November 8, 2024. The two-day event, launched in 2023, aims to involve global and Indian think tanks, companies, public and private sector undertakings, non-profit organizations, academics and research people to focus on India’s national security, foreign policy, military history and military heritage.

India’s Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan will inaugurate the festival this year along with the three services chiefs.

According to a press release, the ‘Shaurya Gatha’ project will also be launched on the occasion of the inauguration of the Indian Military Heritage Festival (IMHF). This project is an initiative of the Department of Military Affairs of India and USI, which aims to preserve and promote India’s military heritage through education and tourism.

Release of many publications on military subjects will be the main attraction. These include the release of ‘ Because of This: A History of the Indo-Pak Air War December 1971’  by Air Marshal Vikram Singh (Retd), Valour and Honour – a joint publication of the Indian Army and USI written by Dr. Mrinmayee Bhushan and edited by Lieutenant General Vinod Khandare (Retd).and Silent Weapons, Deadly Secrets: Unveiling the Bioweapons Arms Race.

‘This year, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will also put up a photo exhibition highlighting its journey and achievements in contributing to Aatmanirbhar Bharat through innovations in defence research,’ said in a released statement.

Participation of NCC cadets and students from schools and colleges in the Delhi NCR region will help inspire the younger generation to pursue a career in the armed forces. There will be informative stalls from the three services.

This year’s event  is being supported by the Ministry of Defence, Department of Military Affairs (DMA), Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, DRDO, Ladakh  Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Ministry of Culture and British High Commission.
