The Fire and Fury Corps mourned the death of nine soldiers in an accident in Ladakh and extended condolences to their family members”.

The condolence message is  from the Indian Army which lost a junior commissioned officer and eight soldiers in an accident. They  were killed when the truck they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell  into a deep gorge in Leh. According to Police the Army vehicle with 10 personnel on board was on its way from Leh to Nyoma when the accident took place. The ill fated truck , Ashok Leyland Stallion , was part of the army convoy .

“The accident led to loss of life of nine army personnel and injuries to one. Gunner Anuj suffered injuries. Presently under treatment in Army Hospital at Leh,” the Army said in a statement.

“The unfortunate accident led to loss of lives of Naib Subedar Ramesh Lal, Havildar Vijay Kumar, Naik Chandrashekhar, Lance Naik Tejpal, Sepoy Tarandeep Singh, Havildar Mahender Singh, Sepoy Manmohan, Sepoy Ankit Kundu, Sepoy Boite Vaibhav (Succumbed to injuries while being evacuated to the hospital),” the Army added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah condoled the death of the army personnel.

“Pained by the mishap near Leh in which we have lost personnel of the Indian Army. Their rich service to the nation will always be remembered,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi was quoted as saying in a post by the PMO.

Expressing grief over the unfortunate accident, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted: “Saddened by the loss of Indian Army personnel due to an accident near Leh in Ladakh. We will never forget their exemplary service to our nation. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. The injured personnel have been rushed to the Field Hospital. Praying for their speedy recovery.”

“The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. My sincerest condolences to them. May the injured recover at the earliest,” Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote in a social media message.

All India Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior party leader Rahul Gandhi also expressed grief over the tragic incident.

“The news of the martyrdom of 9 soldiers due to an accident of an army truck in Leh is very saddening,” Kharge posted on X , earlier Twitter . “We will always be indebted to our brave soldiers. Our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and relatives of the brave soldiers. We wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
In an X post in Hindi, Rahul Gandhi said,  “I pay my humble tribute to all the martyrs. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the jawans. I hope for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
