Navy Day celebrated at many places in India, President Murmu reached Puri

The main programme of Navy Day was held at Puri beach in Odisha where President Draupadi Murmu was the chief guest.
Many programmes were organised on Navy Day at different military bases in India. The main programme was held at Puri beach in Odisha where the President Draupadi Murmu , the supreme commander of the three forces,  saw the ‘Operational Demonstration’ of the Indian Navy.
President Murmu extended her greetings to all the personnel of the Indian Navy on the occasion of Navy Day (4 December 2024). She said that today, on 4 December, we celebrate our glorious victory in the 1971 war and remember the supreme sacrifice of the naval personnel who attained martyrdom in the defence of the motherland. The country will always be grateful for their selfless service.President Murmu said that India’s geographical location has provided us with all the elements necessary to become a great maritime nation. Long coastline, island territories, seafaring population and developed maritime infrastructure have fuelled India’s maritime activities across the coast and oceans for more than 5,000 years.

With a glorious maritime heritage and a history to look back on and a future full of hopes, India has always been a strong maritime nation – our destiny, pride and identity are defined by the sea.

Women in the Navy:
President Murmu praised the proactive efforts of the Navy in providing  development opportunities to ‘Nari Shakti’. She said that the Navy is among  the first service of the military  in India to start recruiting  women Agniveers. She said that two women naval officers, Lieutenant Commander Dilna K and Lieutenant Commander Rupa, who circumnavigated the world in INSV Tarini as part of ‘Navika Sagar Parikrama II’, are the best example of this new change.

Celebrations in Uttarakhand:

The main event in Uttarakhand was held at the National Hydrographic Office on Rajpur Road in the capital Dehradun. Governor and  Lieutenant General ( Retd)  Gurmit Singh was present here as the chief guest. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also attended the function specially.

Addressing the gathering , the Governor said that the sacrifice and dedication of the brave soldiers has laid the foundation for the success of the Indian Navy and the NHO. A strong navy is a must for any major global power. He said that the Indian Navy has made a distinct identity with its operational, humanitarian efforts.
Referring to history, Governor Gurmit Singh said that to recognize the importance of naval capabilities, it is important to know and understand the foresight of Shivaji Maharaj, who drafted a powerful navy. He said that today our women power is making a significant contribution to the advancement of the country. Now emphasis is also being laid on strengthening women power in the armed forces.

In Dehradun, Governor Gurmeet Singh was the chief guest in the Navy Day programme.

Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Naini Lake map and released the book Indian List of Radio Signals Volume 1-2. Vice Admiral Lochan Singh Pathania, Admiral Piyush Pawse, Vice Admiral (Retd) Vinay Badhwar etc. were present on this occasion.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami , in his address,  said that the Indian Navy always protects and enhances the pride of the country on the strength of its valor, courage and skill. The Navy is the power of the country, which the enemies are afraid to collide with even in their dreams. Today is the day to express gratitude towards the valor and dedication of the Indian Navy.

PNB Rakshak Plus Scheme:

Punjab National Bank has made its flagship Rakshak Plus scheme more beneficial by honoring the defenders of the Indian Navy on the occasion of Navy Day on 4 December 2024. PNB Rakshak Plus scheme is specially designed for defence personnel. Under this scheme, defence personnel will now get global accident insurance cover of more than Rs 1 crore, which will cover death or disability due to accidents at sea, air, or land. Apart from this, accidents during naval operations will also be covered.

Celebrations in Kerala :  
In Kerala,  Governor Arif Mohammad Khan was the chief guest and took the salute of the parade at Kochi , the headquarters of the Southern  Command of the Indian Navy.
