Military Literature Festival (MLF) will be held on December 3rd and 4th at the Sukhna Lake in City Beautiful Chandigarh. This is the sixth edition of such a festival which has converted into an occasion for gathering of military historians, thinkers, strategic analysts and writers to discuss and talk about warfare, history and intellectual pursuits. MLF’s theme this year is ‘The Armed Forces: Serving Free India for 75 Years’.
Started in 2017 , Military Literature Festival is being organised after the gap of two years at the Lake Club in Chandigarh , a joint capital of the two states Punjab and Haryana. The festival was organised online during COVID pandemic crisis in 2019 and 2020 because of restrictions on organizing such events.
Chairman of the Military Literature Festival Association and Organising Committee Lt. Gen. (rtd) TS Shergill MLF , while announcing the details , said that the main event will be inaugurated by Punjab Governor and Administrator of Chandigarh Banwarilal Purohit, on 3rd December. This will be followed by panel discussions on topics of national, international interest and strategic affairs and conversations between authors and discussants. Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann will be present there on 4rth December , the last day of the event. He will bring the curtain down on the Festival at the closing ceremony in the evening the same day.
Many other activities are also part of the event. Sunday, 27th November will witness the Bravehearts’ Ride featuring over 600 motorcycle riders. This year MLF is dedicated to the memory of and in homage to the martyrs of the 1962 war whose 60th anniversary has just ended. This will be flagged off from the Chandigarh Club.
A few new books will also be released. There will be book stalls, martial dances will be staged, weapons and military equipment displayed and a Mela-like atmosphere will prevail on the banks of Chandigarh’s scenic Sukhna Lake.

Western Command of the Indian Army plays an important role in the process of organizing the festival and execution of various activities.
