Five Indian Army personnel were killed and almost as many were injured in a horrific accident in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday evening. The accident took place during operational duty, when a vehicle carrying soldiers slipped off the road and fell into a deep gorge.
Police said that at around 5.40 pm today, a vehicle of 11 Maratha Light Infantry (11 maratha LI) met with the accident while going from Neelam headquarters towards Balnoi Ghora post on LoC.
Meanwhile, rescue operations are underway and injured soldiers are being treated.
Indian Army’s 16 Corps posted on X – “All ranks of #whiteknightcorps express their deepest condolences on the tragic death of five brave soldiers in a vehicle accident while on operational duty in #Poonch Sector. Rescue operations are underway and injured personnel are being provided medical aid.
