Captain Geetika Koul of the Indian Army has created a history. Captain Koul will be the first woman doctor in the Indian Army to be deployed at Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield. Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps said in a social media post on Tuesday.
This achievement follows Geetika Koul’s successful completion of rigorous induction training at the Siachen Battle School. The training includes high-altitude acclimatization, learning survival techniques, and specialized medical procedures.
The Fire and Fury Corps of the Army made this public announcement on social media, highlighting the significance of Captain Koul’s deployment in promoting gender inclusion within the military.
“Captain Geetika Koul from the Snow Leopard Brigade becomes the first woman medical officer of the Indian Army to be deployed at the world’s highest battlefield, Siachen after successfully completing the induction training at Siachen Battle School,” Fire and Fury Corps said in a post on X (earlier tweeter).
Located in the northern part of the Himalayas, Siachen is not only known for its strategic significance but also for its unforgiving climatic conditions and challenging terrain.
