Army truck falls into gorge in Arunachal: 3 soldiers lost life, many injured

Tribute to the army personnel who lost their lives in the road accident

An  Indian Army truck  slipped off the road and fell into a gorge in Arunachal Pradesh. Three of the soldiers travelling in the truck lost their lives and many were injured. The accident happened on Tuesday morning in Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. The names of the army personnel who lost their lives in this accident are – Havildar Nakhat Singh, Naik Mukesh Kumar and Grenadier Ashish Kumar.

The accident took place on the Trans-Arunachal Highway near Tapi village at 6 am on Tuesday. A police officer told the media that the truck was part of an army convoy that was moving from Daporijo to Basar in Leprada district. Locals reacted immediately and helped rescue the injured. They also helped remove the  deceased soldiers.

Indian Army’s Eastern Command said in a post on X, “Lieutenant General RC Tiwari and all ranks express deep condolences on the demise of brave Havaldar Nakhat Singh, NK Mukesh Kumar and Grenadier Ashish who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty in Arunachal Pradesh. The Indian Army stands firmly with the bereaved families,”

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu also condoled the death of the army personnel. In a post on Twitter, he said, “I am deeply saddened by the loss of lives of Army personnel – Havaldar Nakhat Singh, Naik Mukesh Kumar and Grenadier Ashish Kumar – in a tragic accident near Tapi in Upper Subansiri district. Their service and supreme sacrifice to the nation will be remembered with the highest honour.”

CM Pema Khandu also offered his condolences to the bereaved families, and added, “I pray to Lord Buddha for the peace of the brave souls. Om Mani Padme Hum.”
