An-32 accident : Mortal remains of 13 air warriors sent to Jorhat

Air Marshal RD Mathur, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command paid tributes to the Air-warriors at a wreath-laying ceremony in Jorhat, today.

Mortal remains of 13 Air Warriors of Indian Air Force have been recovered and sent to Airforce Staion, Jorhat in Assam. They all were onboard at An-32 aircraft which crashed in the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh, another border state of India. An-32 took off from Jorhat on June 3rd but crashed after few minute enroute to Mechuka.

According to a press release, on 11 Jun 19, the wreckage of the missing An-32 aircraft was found on a mountain slope in Arunachal Pradesh and all air warriors died in the crash. The mortal remains of the 13 brave air-warriors have been recovered and sent to Air Force Station, Jorhat. Thereafter, the mortal remains will be sent to their hometown, where funeral as per service customs will be carried out.

Indian Air Force stands with the families and next-of-kin of all the air-warriors who lost their life in the line of duty. IAF thanks Indian Army, Indian Navy, NTRO, State administration and civil population for their unstinted support during search and rescue operations’ said in press release issued by Mininstry of Defence.
