India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reached US on a 4-day visit

India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in the capital Washington yesterday evening for his four-day US visit. Rajnath Singh will be on an official visit to the US from 23 to 26 August 2024 at the invitation of US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin.

During this visit, the Defense Minister  will hold a bilateral meeting with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin. He will also meet Jake Sullivan, Assistant to the US President for National Security Affairs.

Rajnath Singh met Indians in Washington DC at an event organized by the Indian Embassy. Mentioning about the event,  the Defence  Minister said in his social media post, “There was a lively interaction with the Indian community. It was a pleasure to see how the Indian community cherishes and maintains its cultural values and is connected to its roots.”

A press release from the Ministry of Defence said that the visit comes in the backdrop of the growing momentum in India-US relations and defence engagements at multiple levels. The visit is expected to further deepen and broaden the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

According to the release, Rajnath Singh will also chair a high-level round table meeting with the defense industry on the ongoing and future defence collaborations.
