Maryan Apparel Private Limited, a garment manufacturing company in India, has decided not to supply uniforms to the Israeli Police and not take orders for the time being. This company has been receiving orders for making and sending approximately one lakh uniforms to the Israel Police for many years. Apart from this, the company also supplies uniforms to several thousand prisoners for Israel. Now the company has decided not to send these uniforms to Israel until the war between Israel and Hamas stops and peace is restored.

The owner of the company is Mumbai based businessman Thomas Olickal, who is originally a Malayali and a resident of Kerala. He has a garment unit in Kannur district of Kerala. Interestingly, there are about 1500 employees in the manufacturing unit and most of them are women.

Maryan Apparel Pvt Ltd  also manufactures the uniform for various police and armed forces whether Indian or foreign. The products here are of international standard.
This company has expertise in making different types of uniforms as per the requirement of the end users. It manufactures uniforms for employees of the Philippine Army, Qatar Air Force and Qatar Police, British and American security firms, many schools and fire brigades in the Middle East, and foreign organisations involved in rescue and relief operations. The company’s management says that since 2015, it has been manufacturing and sending more than 1 lakh uniforms to the Israeli police. News agency PTI has released news about this on the basis of information given on the social media of Kerala Industry Minister P Rajeev. Industries Minister P Rajeev has welcomed this decision of the company.

Managing Director of Maryan Apparel, Thomas Olickal, says that in view of the attacks on innocent people in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, their company has taken a decision based on morality that until the war in that region does not stop,  uniforms will not be supplied to the Israeli police. He says that the company  does not want to have any direct or indirect connection with the war. This is not a politically motivated decision either. When the war stops, uniforms will be supplied to Israel as before.
