The Investiture Ceremony of the 23rd Batch of Sub-Inspector Cadets of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was today solemnized at its Academy in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Director of CBI Rishi Kumar Shukla was the Chief Guest during the Ceremony. Speaking on this occasion he congratulated the cadets and said that the training was the most demanding test of intellectual and physical abilities of the cadets.

Director CBI Sh Shukla further stated that as the cadets celebrate the successful execution of this phase of their lives, they must remember that from now onwards, they have tremendous responsibilities on their shoulders. Shri Shukla further emphasized that at this juncture as they begin their career in CBI, their positive attitude and perseverance will play an important role in taking the glory of the organisation to new heights.

Shri Shukla observed that there have been many examples over the years where the aggrieved person(s)/victim(s) and their immediate relatives not being satisfied with the findings of a probe carried out by various investigating agencies, have sought the handing over of the probe to the CBI. This shows the strong faith of the public in the CBI, as an investigating agency which exemplifies integrity and impartiality.

32 weeks of hard, toil and diligent training was rendered to 13 Sub-Inspector probationers who joined CBI Academy on 22nd October, 2018. This batch consists of 13 cadets including 1 lady officer who were selected through SSC’s Combined Graduate Level Examination and also through Departmental Examination.

The cadets were trained in laws and investigation skills, Anti-Corruption Cases, different types of Conventional Crimes, collection of intelligence, drug related offences, human trafficking, wildlife crimes, investigation of cyber crime cases, mobile forensic, forensic medicine, forensic science, bank frauds, security frauds, other types of economic offences etc. The course also aimed to inculcate in them the highest standards of professional integrity and rectitude, respect for Human Rights, vital ingredients of professionalism and strong sense of discipline.

During the ceremony, Director of CBI Sh. Shukla pesented awards and certificates to the cadets. The “Director’s Trophy for Best Probationer” was awarded to Shashank Singh Rathour and Director’s Trophy for First Runner Up to Harish Kumar.

Sh. Shukla also released the updated version of two Handbooks; “Standard Operating Procedure for Investigation of Bank Frauds” and “Handbook on Laws and Procedure of Banking”.

Sharad Agarwal , Joint Director (Training), presented the Course Report and advised the cadets while quoting the famous motivational words of Swami Vivekanand: “Arise, Awake and Stop not until the goal is reached”. He conveyed thanks to all the guests, senior CBI officers, officers from other departments, family members of cadets and other officials present on the occasion.
