If you want to join as a technical officer, you will need to have passed Physics and Maths at 10+2 level with a minimum of 50% and must have a 4-year graduation degree in Technology /Engineering from a recognized university with at least 60% marks.You will be appointed as an Aeronautical Engineer. Whether it will be Mechanical (M) OR Electronics (L) will depend upon your graduation degree. Having No Existing Backlogs is a must
along with being unmarried.
Once joined, you will be given training for one year (6 months basic training + 6
months of technical training) at Air Force Technical College and Air Force Administrative College. After you have finished the training, you will be commissioned respectively. For flying branch officers, they will be sent to Stage III flying training squadrons and officers for branches such as Fighter Controllers and ATCs will receive special training before deployment.
If you wish to join as a Medical Officer, then you will have two options.
Either join as a cadet after 10+2 ( at least 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology ) / B.Sc or MBBS after which you can join the AMC by giving a written exam and interview at
AFMC, Pune.
Or
By having 3 years of professional experience or a Post Graduate degree recognized by the Medical Council of India.
For joining as a Dental Doctor, one needs to have a Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) degree with minimum 60% marks.Having this information, you might also be interested in the terms PC and SSC. These stand for Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission respectively.
Only male candidates are allowed to join the Permanent Commission. For the female candidates, the entry is via Short Service Commission which lasts for 10/14 years based on the branch, and after the end of their tenure, they can be given the grant for PC if their performance review is good enough.
