Haryana announced 20% reservation  for Agniveers in State Police Force

Agniveers will be given 20 percent reservation in the recruitment in Haryana Police. Apart from  this, provision of 10 percent reservation has also been made in the jobs of forest guard, jail warder and mining guard in the forest department of Haryana for Agniveers.

Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini announced the benefits to the Agniveers recruited under the Agnipath scheme of the Indian Army in Panchkula on Sunday. Mr. Saini was here to preside over a review meeting  for providing reservation facility in jobs to the soldiers recruited under Agnipath Scheme.

The Chief Minister said that  a separate portal will be created for Agniveers wishing to get a job in different departments of Haryana government. The Agniveer can register themselves, after completing 4 years of tenure ,    on the portal . On this basis, considering the qualification of the Agniveer, he will be given preference during in job recruitment.

It was informed in the review meeting that 2227 youth from Haryana were recruited in various branches of the Army as Agniveers during the year 2022-23 and 2893 during 2023-24. The tenure of Agniveers recruited in the first batch will be completed in July 2026.

What is Agnipath :

The Union Government in India started the Agnipath scheme in the year 2022. Under this scheme  Agniveers ( volunteer soldiers)  were recruited in the Army, Navy and Air Force. Their tenure as a soldier has been kept for 4 years.  The first batch of Agniveers will complete their tenure in 2026. Twenty Five percent of them  will be given permanent jobs in the military on the basis of their qualifications, while the remaining 75 percent of Agniveers will be retired. They will not get many benefits like pension etc. or facilities  which are given to regular  soldiers and officers.

Initially the government had to face lots of criticism for launching the  Agnipath scheme. There were  protests in many states and it also became a political issue in elections. Many political parties wanted it to be withdrawn.

Later on ,the  government made some changes in the hastily announced Agnipath scheme and also seeked the help of different states , for providing re employment to retired  Agniveers .  In view of this, different states have reserved posts for retired Agniveers in their various departments.

Reservation in mining guard, jail warder, SPO recruitment in Haryana:

Agniveers will be given 10 percent horizontal reservation in the recruitment of mining guard, jail warder and SPO in Haryana. Apart from this, 5 percent reservation has been kept for them in Group C recruitment. Agniveers who want to start their own business will be provided loans from banks or financial institutions at cheap interest rates and easy terms.

The Haryana government has also taken the decision  that if private industries employ Agniveers on a monthly salary of more than Rs 30 thousand, then the government will also provide an annual subsidy of Rs 60 thousand to those industries. It was informed in the meeting that those Agniveers who want to serve as private security personnel will be given priority in issuing weapon licenses. Agniveers will have to apply on the portal.
